who just said Brent was annoying?
Hey,some cat from Nova Scotia said Brent was annoying..what band is dude listening to? Brent brought back the fun for the boys...it has been said Jerry
...
was particularly upset over his death...Brent kind of reminded me of their little brother, the prankster...always with that goofy stare..and excessive shoulder gyrations..not to mention laying flames with the Hammond...dude didnt ask the boys if they would play to his style..they wanted to play with his style.....annoying?? total lunacy..opinion I guess, but absurd never the less.
the chinacat is avg. transition is short. the IKYRider has some energy but is missing the longer and 'extra' guitar breaks between 'march winds' and 'wish
...
I were a headlight' the last guitar break is good(but not overly long etc) so its nothing 'to write home about.' The caution jam is full on, listen to Phil. The other post 74 caution jams are good but are more accurately good 'jams' as opposed to 'caution.' ie capecod '79, nassau 81 overall this is a GOOD show for 1980. as far as the recording its good for the period. 1980 SBD's are generally better than 81, most 82's, 83,84. beginning in late 80,81 the SBD recordings were an afterthought with lazy tape usage leading to bad cuts, tape flips etc. For instance recording the beginning of 2nd set at the end of 1st set cassette which lead to many bad cuts etc. Didnt care to spend the extra buck or two to start 2nd set on a fresh cassette. the Dec 81 tour was notable as some/most /all of it was taped on reels but not mixed to tape simple PA feeds a la 81cassettes etc and lack bass,' hot' vocals similar to majority /large minority of 81/82 cassette SBD's

Imagine if Feels Like a Stranger had regularly been followed by Ship of Fools. We would have abreviated that to Feels like Fools on our tape cards!

My First Show
Yep, this is the one. Very first. High up in the rafters. Didn't quite completely "get it" till a couple of shows later but as I listened to the music,

I had the sneaking conviction that there was more going on in the midst of those musical forays that met the eye (or ear). It would be a few more months before I turned from external, musical spectator to taking the trip on the inside of the musicscape, so to speak.

Spring/Summer '80 run as among their best. Yes, Brent is still somewhat annoying but Jerry is on it and all over it almost all the time. This particular show is not among the best, thus the 4 star rating (a 3 star implies that something is realy wrong), but it certainly worth the listen
